Exposé OS X Guide
When you're working on your Mac, the applications and Finder windows can really clutter up your screen. With Exposé, you can cycle thru all your opened windows with ease. There are 3 actions you can do with the press of a button:
- F9: By pressing F9, Exposé shows you a screen with all your opened windows viewable. By clicking on a window, Exposé collapses and the window you clicked appears in front.
- F10: By pressing F10, Exposé shows you a screen with all your opened windows of the same application. If you are on a Finder window when you press F10, all the Finder windows will pop-up and you can choose which one you want. The opened windows from other applications don't appear using this function.
- F11: By pressing F11, all your windows disappear and you have access to your desktop. When you repress F11, all your windows come back the way they were.
Here's one little easter egg within Exposé; if you hold shift while the animations are in progress, everything will go in slow motion. It has no advantages but it's a little hidden feature worth mentioning.
Moving files between different windows
Moving files between windows is particularly easy with Exposé. For example, if you want to take a photo in iPhoto and add it to your iWeb website, you start dragging your photo from iPhoto press F9, go on the iWeb window and wait until it opens. Then, you can continue dragging your photo and drop it where you need it.
The same can be done between two Finder windows. Start dragging a file, press F10 and choose a window. Then, when your window appears, drop your file in it.
